Back to Blogging

I've been meaning to do a blog post about the biggest fashion trends of 2013 and have finally got round to it after becoming the laziest person in the world and rejecting my blog.

Supersized wool coats

Personally I am not a fan. I don't really see the attraction of wearing a brightly coloured nan style coat nethertheless my opinion seems unpopular with them featuring in many fashion blogs as 'the best winter coats'.

Leather

It suddenly became acceptable to wear anything leather - leather skirts, leather bralets, leather jackets and even leather panelled jeans. Urban Outfitters featured some of the best leather staple pieces including this skirt with zips and the panelled skinny jeans below

Back to the 90s

The 90s trend is back in a big way with printed, velvet and tartan versions appearing across the high street. Even designers such as Marc Jacobs and Missoni added luxe versions into their Autumn 2013 collections.

Another thing that has taken us back to our youth is pinafores. 2013 was the year it became fashionable to dress like you did when you were 4 at primary school however it had the addition of the tartan which was a massive hit last year.

The return to the 90s trends continued with the back to school theme with the skort. Popular in a PE wardrobe this was converted into a fashionable item with different textures and patterns such as wool and tartan with Topshop creating many versions of the classic skort.

PVC

This was a trend that was cleverly worn with chunky knits to maker it appear less sexy and more appropriate to be worn on a day to day basis. As shown in this image of the Topshop black PVC skirt.

Velvet

Crushed velvet was perhaps one of my favourite trends of 2013. Most popular in burgundy, emerald green and royal blue in crop tops, skirts and bralets.
